In Sweden, we still have some well-functioning oak woodlands that are largely connected. When previously grazed oak meadows are abandoned, the land quickly becomes overgrown. Gradually the land become so dark that the species that grow there move away or die out. With time, the oak trees die as well. Oak woodlands are also lost to exploitation such as the construction of buildings and roads. Our oak woodlands can house a vast number of species and have few or no equivalents. Inom f\u00f6rvaltningen av naturreservat har L\u00e4nsstyrelser och kommuner tillsammans med mark\u00e4gare och djurh\u00e5llare under l\u00e5ng tid arbetat med att frihugga gamla ekar samt \u00f6ppna upp och restaurera tidigare betade ekhagmarker \u2013\u00a0s\u00e5 att betesdjuren \u00e5terigen h\u00e4vdar dessa.\u00a0<\/p><p>Med LIFE \u2013\u00a0Bridging the Gap vill vi ta denna f\u00f6rvaltning ett steg vidare. Vi vill lyfta blicken och p\u00e5b\u00f6rja det viktiga arbetet med att f\u00e5 dessa v\u00e4rdefulla omr\u00e5den att h\u00e4nga ihop i ett landskapsperspektiv och utveckla l\u00f6sningar f\u00f6r arbetet fram\u00e5t.
